Re: slower machines
I guess my machine is now also slower.
Here are my specs:
Processor: Intel Core i5 4590 @ 3.30GHz - It's a haswell so, 2014 era, good for the time but quite old now...
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... 0-ghz.html
Graphics: Radeon RX 570
RAM: 16GB or DDR3
The computer is a Dell Optiplex 3020. The advantage: QUIET !
However, when I run hl2dm with ANY other apps open, I now get fps drops of below 80 !
This Never used to happen, ever. I guess the OS gets more and more demanding and so does Steam. So now I will have to quit everything before I play, not great for doing admin...
For lower machines I would suggest you try Razer Cortex game booster. Might help you. I stopped using it but might have to go back to it now ...

Re: slower machines
Noo, this is still lightening fast!!!
Don't tell to Hal71 it's becoming outdated, he will get angry
His specs are still OK, not yet 10 years old
Anyway, when I re-installed HL2DM a year ago I had a look on what to do to improve perfs, and read and used this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... =544032569
It's not perfect, but contains a documented Autoexec.cfg
So at least a great sets of parameters with grouping according to what they aims to. I started from there to redo my autoexec, but of course many of the parameters are still obscur so it's rather activate or not sections of parameteers.
(+ how to force HL2 to run in DirectX 8 if we need to go that far)
NB: one of the command you have here was not in that autoexec.cfg, added into my autoexec.cfg
Thanks Bubble.

Re: более медленные машины
Bub, u right, now is not 2014, but ur machine is still fast. X86 arch (Intel / amd) adding a paltry 5-10% performance annually, and mostly video coding units. My pc is little similar it rx570 4g, 16Gb DDR3-1600, XEON x3470(4/8)@3.2ghz. I have up to 20fps drops, sometimes. I think that some third party plugins or fx (dont know) on server has bad effect for overall performance.[ZG] BubblesDevere wrote:I guess my machine is now also slower.

Today i tried to launch "hot" cyberpunk 2077, and i have 30-50fps on min-mid settings. Most games what i have give a 60+ fps. Its a gemes like BlackMesa, DOOM 2016, DiRT rally 2.0, MAFIA defenitive edition.
Agree that it can't even be compared.
Something other here.

Re: slower machines
Bugz, errors.
Slow-mo 1/8 video shows how errors affect FPS
each error make a microsecond interrupt. When lot of ppls on server, errors make a lot interrupts, microseconds are summed to milliseconds in a reult FPS drop
